LGA775 PinMod Guide

  • Warning!!!
    Do this at your own risk. I am not liable for any damage in your processor or mobo. This mod may permanently void your mobo and processor's warranty.

    This guide is very useful if your mobo has no VCore or has limited FSB adjustment and you wanna squeeze out the best in your Pentium D, Celeron D, Pentium E, Conroe-L and Core2Duo proccy.

    I just got bored today and took off my Celeron D 331 out of the mobo and try the PinMod Guide of Shamino from VRZone.

    <click here for link>

    The arrow on the Guide is in the wrong position so it should be on the left side

    I am hoping to pump my Celey upto 4Ghz so there you go.

    Here are the screenies

    What materials do you need?
    - Aluminum Tape or Conductive Pen or Paint or Defogger Kit
    - Electrical Tape
    - Scissor
    - Tweezer
    - Ohmmeter

    Steps
    - Cover teh single point with Electrical Tape
    - Connect the line with your choice of conductive material

    Too bad my mobo cant go higher than what it can do at default vcore. =( Damn I missed my ASRock Twins.

    I guess, ill just charge this to experience. wooot!

    Im gonna do the Core2Duo mod soon in my E4300 or E4400 ^_^

    Did I say soon? too soon huh.. ^_^

    I did the 1.4V VID Mod to my E4300 (stock is 1.325V) and heres what I have got...

    Our very own TPCer Hoyas found this nifty utility to display the actual layout of your desired VID Mod for C2D proc.

    And heres a yummy one for you.

    1066 Core2Duo BSEL Mod
    - Changing the 800Mhz to 1066Mhz Bootstrap (FSB)
    - Applicable to E2xxx/E4xxx Core2Duo, Celeron 4xx (Conroe-L), Pentium D 800 FSB
    - Mobo should have support for 1066 FSB

    Ive used aluminum tape and created an inverted "C" shape like this

    External Image

    top is the conductive part (fold teh tip) and bottom is the adhesive part...

    You can also try not to fold the tip if you encounter any problem.

    And heres the Core2Duo 1333 Mod
    - applicable to E6xxx/E7xxx Core2Duo only
    - mobo should support 1333 (333) FSB

    External Image

    And this is the 800 -> 1333 Mod

    External Image

    Upcoming Mod

    Celey D 3xx

    533 -> 800 BSEL Mod.. ^_^

    I just read the Celey 3xx Datasheet and it looks feasible

    stay tuned ^_^

    ooops.. Success!

  • galing ah
  • hehe

    try mo Fafs...

    its a Learning experience ^_^
  • cpuz na sir..
  • kakatakot naman gawin. hehe. pero ang galing!

    External Image
  • hehe kelangan malinaw ang mata nyo otherwise kelangan ng magnifying glass

    saka dapat di pasmado.. ^_^
  • you can use a magnifying lens in determining the pin(s) positions and use a small flat-ended precision screw to paint / connect the required pins using conductive paint (did that to mod my Athlon XPs to Athlon MPs)...
  • yo! sorry kung dito ko po ito mai-post.
    tonong ko lng kung paano ko matatanggal ung proc ko sa mobo safely. ang problem wl socket ung board, as in nakahinang ung pin ng proc sa mobo. paano kaya gagawin ko para matanggal ng maayos. kasi sira ng ung mobo. try ko gamitan ng soldering iron ung mga capacitor, ang hirap tunawin ng led ng ns mobo.

    @lexlukkia

    kindly create another thread for that inquiry, baka hindi masagot ng maayos dito sa thread na ito... also better post the CPU/processor concerned and motherboard...
  • Hard pin mod should be done as a last resort to boost vCore, i.e. if motherboard doesn't have such option such as the mobo used by jcmarfilph.

    Note, this mod voids your warranty even if your processor works fine after the mod.

    Nehalem, I await your arrival...

  • hehe yup this will definitely void the warranty unless you know how to reverse the mod ^_^

    After all, Ive set my mind earlier, no matter what happen, any smoke, any boom, I will get a new processor.

    Behind my back telling me, ditch the Celey. ditch the Celey ^_^

    As a result,

    Got a new proccy now, will update this thread soon ^_^
  • @jcmarfilph

    nice job sir! i would like to do the E4300 mod as well. i just dun't know wher to get hold of the defogger repair paint. i saw yung silver conductive paint sa alexan pero i don't think worth it yung 8++pesos for 3 grams. also, may mga nagsasabi na not always working kung silver ang ginamit. :)
  • @jcmarfilph

    for vcore mod pala yung posted nyo. what i would like to try is yung BSEL mod (default fsb 800->1066) ;)
  • @paui:

    thanks Paui

    I can do that too..

    will post that soon ^_^

    yeah, 800php is really costly, however, it worked on my Athlon XPs (modded to Athlon MPs)...
  • @jcmarfilph

    ok, let me know if it works for you! btw, what conductive interface are you planning to use? :)

  • @Quiroga

    what i mean is hindi lahat successful yung mga gumamit ng silver for the E4300 BSEL mod :)
  • @Quiroga:

    Well I can do that using just a pencil ^_^

    Before I was able to mod 2 Sempies

    Thoroughbred -> Athlon-MP (unlocked multi)
    Thorton ->Barton (256 -> 512 L2 cache)

    Guys you are free to post here any mod youve done to your LGA775...

    lets unite in this thread

    Unified Pin Mod Guide for LGA775 i.e

    i.e VCore, BSEL(FSB) or Multi perhaps? ^_^

    @paui:

    Silver/Aluminum Tape
  • @jcmarfilph

    where do you buy those? :)
  • Well I can do that using just a pencil ^_^
    LOLz, pencil (graphite lead) won't work on polycarbonate surface, that's my initial dilemma until I found out that Alexan is selling such item...

    kudos to you, sir jcmarfilph, for sharing such feat (define feat: 1. An act; a deed; an exploit. <click here for link>)
  • @Paui:

    Hardware? ^_^

  • @Quiroga:

    looky here ^_^

    <click here for link>

    ahem this will be the last post regarding AMD Mod

    LGA775 modders bring it on... ^_^
  • @jcmarfilph

    oki, however the pencil-trick has some problems like it wears off (mainly because the smooth polycarbonate surface) as some posters on the linked thread... and another issue is the pit on the cut bridges...

    now back to normal programming...
  • any more takers? ^_^
  • whoa! jcmarfilph, you've transformed to one serious modding mastah!.... or is it just because you already have a new proccy and would like to ditch that old cely.. LOL

    galing mo parekoy.. galing ng guts mo!
  • @ian:

    Hehe been doin hardware mods "Ever since my world began" in TPC lolz..

    I could have hit 4GHz+ if I still have my beloved ASRock Twins..

    May issue sa PCIe lock ang 945G kasi.. =(

    so another hardware mod (BSEL) coming up

    P.S Bakit nakakapagbrowse ka, hindi ba bawal sa atin? lolz
  • ahem.... BSEL mod nako pre...
  • he! he! oks to a. Just a little sacrificial celeron and a lot of guts. c",)
  • @joel_galang:

    atleast di masakit sa bulsa kung sakaling puputok lolz..

    well pinagaralan ko naman maigi yan bago ko ginawa yan..

    @hoyas:

    post mo na pre.. ^_^
  • pwede ba pang-connect ung pangtagpi ng butas ng kaldero? ung nabibili sa palengke.
