HELP! GTX 960 4GB or GTX 970?

So medyo torn po ako. Baka kasi pwede na ang 960 4GB para sa high settings ng mga high end games.

    I NEED SUGGESTIONS PO. PATULONG.

THANK YOU IN ADVANCE SA MGA SASAGOT! :)
  • 970
  • Ano po ba pinagkaiba nung 960 sa 970? Thanks
  • just my two cents:

if budget concious ka or sakto lang budget tapos lower resolutions lang display mo and di ka metikuloso sa graphics ok na si 960, pero if papipiliin talaga kung sino mas ok gtx970 without a doubt.. kahit ultra settings mo kayang kaya.. pero syempre dapat compensated din ng ram, psu etc.. hth

  • 970 is a whole lot faster, no ifs or buts (at syempre mas mahal)...

sa 1020p gaming, medyo hirap an 960 at max settings coz the 128-bit memory bus is very limiting.

baka useless din yung 4gb sa 960 coz its crippled by the bandwidth limitation so it might be wiser to get the 2gb version and save a couple thousand!

am also eyeing a gtx 960 2gb version to use w/ my 20in monitor (1600x900). medyo hirap ang current 750ti ko when everything is maxed!

    HP po desktop ko.

Eto po yung link for specifications: http://support.hp.com/ph-en/document/c03652441

Kaya naman po siguro ng desktop ko yung mga video cards. Ang alam ko po kasi kaya. So siguro po GTX 970 ang mas preferable sa desktop ko? Thank you po.
  • Kung may iba pa po kayong video cards na pwedeng i-suggest, okay lang po.. Post na lang dito. :)

    Thanks sir
  • Tsaka mga sir, anong manufacturer ang maganda para sa GTX 970? I\'m eyeing on ASUS Strix e. I heard na maganda rin ang EVGA.
  • I have two GTX 960 cards.

    1. ASUS GTX 960 Strix 2GB
    2. ASUS GTX 960 Strix 4GB OC - fastest 960 out there afaik

I can see a big difference between the two.
I can max out any modern games @ 1080p using the 4GB variant while the 2GB variant cannot.
Also, the 128bit bandwidth does not matter at all since GTX 960s are using new texture compression algorithms so it does not need a higher bandwidth.

If you\'ll play games @ 1080p, GTX 960 4GB OC is a bang for the buck card.
    If you\'ll play games @ 4k, better use a GTX 970.

  • 970 gets my vote for a whole bunch of reasons.

The Oculus Rift will launch at Q1 2016 and the recommended GPU is at LEAST a GTX 970:

Keep in mind that you also want to future-proof your build to avoid frequent upgrades. I am also not a fan of SLI/XFire. A single fast GPU is better than 2 slower ones because of less heat, less power draw, less space, less PCIe lanes, less compatibility problems, and multi-GPU configurations suffer from diminishing returns in terms of performance scaling. But this is just me.

And of course, the difference between the 970 and 960 is HUGE! I am surprised that these 2 are even being compared:

Get a second-hand 970 from a trusted TPC seller. That\'s what I did. I scored mine for 12k. Brand new would be 15k (Zotac).

  • Thank you for your answers. It is very much appreciated. I\'ve decided to go for the GTX 970 instead as this is much better than the GTX 960 4GB. It\'s pricey but I\'m buying this for future-proof.

Another question, what brand should I go for? I\'m eyeing on ASUS STRIX GTX 970.
