Mobo\\\'s Memory controller faulty?

  • Good evening mga sir!

Yesterday nag iinstall ako ng cpu cooler na Deepcool tigershark. Na install ko nmn no probs Noctua nt h1 pa nga ginamet ko na thermal paste kya i dont think there would be any problems. Working sya 100% before ko i seat ung cooler pero after ko iseat ung cooler ayaw na mag post ng bios, no display sa monitor, and merong 3 short beeps tapos pause tapos 3 short beeps ulet. sa manual at sa mga nasearch ko nalaman ko ung memory controller daw prob, trinay kona itry ung dalawang slots salitan tag isang ram and all, ginamitan kopa ng eraser ung ram pero to no avail ganun paren condition nya

    Im using:
    I3 -3220 non K na proci
    DH61BF ng intel na mobo
    and 2 kingston na 2gb ddr3
    generic na 500w psu din

Question po is repairable paba to? not under warranty na rin sya, wla ako halos budget ngaun mag uupgrade sana talaga ako kaso bglang nadale pa T_T

anu advice nyo mga sir? mabebenta paba? maayos? sukuan nlng at ung pang upgrade ko pangbili nlng ng sapa mobo?

    :D Thanks in advance
  • Dagdag ko lng po pala di nmn po bent cpu pins ung prob since flat nmn pins nung i3 ko

    salamat! UP!
  • The memory controller is in the CPU chip, not on the motherboard. Also, the CPU chip does not have pins but contact points. The pins are on the motherboard

  • ok po thanks for the additional info and corrections :D

mukang mas mapapamahal nga replacement ko if ever pfffftt
  • hiram ka ng ibang memory, try mo muna
  • palit ka branded psu..
baka naman kulang supply niyan kaya ng kakaganyan.. :)
  • bintsmok has already gave the hint.

Pls check my encounter for your reference.

I just solved my MSI P55-GD65 (half size of RAM usable) issue yesterday. It was caused by bent socket pins, hope this may help or give you an idea.

    System:
    MSI P55-GD65
    i5-760
    12GB G.Skill Ripjaws DDR3 (1333, 1600 mixed)
    FSP Everest 600W

Last thing I did before problem occured:
    - Took off HSF, Processor for cleaning, re-applied thermal paste.

    Problem:
    - Total installed RAMs always detected as full (both in BIOS/Windows), but only half amount of RAM was usable in both Windows/Linux. (16GB Total, 7.9GB usable...etc.) The other half size of RAM appeared as \"Hardware Reserved\" in resource monitor.
    - Tried swap around RAMs in difference DIMM slot, found out DIMM-0 wasn\'t detecting RAM. (It was working before).

    Solution:
    - Using magnifying glass to check CPU socket pins carefully, Found out 2 raised pins and off position (might cause contact with the pin next to it).
    - Using a tiny flat screw drive to carefully press down the raised pins and place them in right position.

After rearrange the socket pins, boot the system. My half missing RAM were back. (1st repair attempt was unsuccessful, it caused CPU not booting, no BOIS or anything. Re-do Pins arrangement until it worked)

    My last advice:
NEVER go with GENERIC power supply, unstable power output might cause hardware damage (HDD particularly) in long term use.

Sorry for my bad english, not my mother tongue.
