I now created a thread which will be the repository of all my reviews and benchmarks

    Thanks

  • Nice REview Sir, kahit Conclusion lang talaga binasa ko, hehehe
inaantok na kase ako dahil sa Puyat

    Saka nko mag-Upgarde ng Procie
Stick muna ako kay i3 2100 1155 Sandy Bridge for 1 Year More
  • nice review sir!!
  • Cool review. Toms also have a couple of overclocking articles on this new performer. The second one uses stock cooling pitted against a similarly-priced stock-cooled Athlon on cheap boards.

I didn\'t know AMD was going to release a brand new architecture on 2016. Looks like that\'s the time I\'ll let go of my Phenom II X4 965BE C3/125W.

I also wonder what cheaper boards available here in the Philippines can overclock this chip. I read that some motherboards can be flashed to allow overclocking of unlocked processors.

I might pick this one up for a future budget build instead of an A8.
  • it is confirm that non-Z board can overclock this cpu

  • ^ Nice! abang mode muna ako anong cheap board na locally available na puwede maka OC.
  • just got my z87x-d3h board refurbished from gigabyte. plugged in my new g3258. put only a cheap id cooling 92mm heatsink and fan made in china 21$. pangit ang cooler na ito. avoid. but tweaked my settings. i use windows 8.1 kasi ang windows 7 just reboots/restarts without any message. pag windows 8.1 usually whea_uncorrectable_error which means kulang ang voltage. or machine_exception, wrong bios settings and voltage. now its working at 4.4ghz at 1.3volts but the volts as shown in the picture is 1.32. ganon talaga tumaasa ng .02 parati. i also set the others as follows:

cpu vrin override LLC to extreme so that the vin doesnt droop.

ring voltage from 1.1 to 1.26 but i set it at 1.2

    vcore 1.3

    cpu multiplier 44

memory forced at 16 or 1600mhz. di aandar maganda and 1333mhz

    my specs

    g3258 [email protected]
    gigabyte z87x-d3h
    corsair dominator 1 stick 8 gb 1600mhz
    cheap gt 220 video card
thermaltake old 550 watt psu. no pci-ex connectors and only a 20 pin power connector. so i use a 20 to 24 pin converter.

  • just bought a xigmatek dark night for 21$ at ebay. used but almost new as the seller claims. so i am happy and will wait so i can go to 4.6ghz.

  • Salamat sa review sir, maganda din sana kung kasama yung stock performance nung CPU.
  • Nice review, I wonder how would it perform when I overclock it using a Biostar H81MHV3!

Overclocking Haswell is heavily dependent on your chip. For a core voltage of ~1.3 V, max stable OC ranges from 4.2 GHz to 4.8 GHz. It\'s all about luck in getting a good OC chip :)

There are H81 boards that can overclock G3258. Just check the BIOS updates if G3258 is listed

  • tumpak depende sa chip yan. meron ako h81 na gigabyte board nga. 1.2v lang ang maximum at 1400mhz lang ang memory kaya di umaabot ng 4.4ghz only 4.2ghz. anyway still for sale at ebay and amazon. after a month baka ibahin ko ang style at gamitin ko naman sa ibang board. as from my above post umaabot talaga 4.4ghz pero dipa ko umabot ng 4.6ghz. di ko pa nagamit kasi mga 120mm na dark knight or my corsair h55 and antec h20 1250. naka kahon pa ayokong buksan. pag build ko ng i7 4790k ko na padating pa lang at gigabyte z87x-OC board ko na nandito lang. dun ko siguro gagamitin nag liquid cooler ko. para at least 4.5ghz. :)
  • Question regarding Devils canyon OC. What exactly is the safe limit for Devils canyon OC? Based on what I say on youtube regarding haswell recommended voltages are 1.275-1.280. But for devils canyon is it the same or is it higher? (like 1.35?? or 1.3? Does recommended voltage vary because its the haswell refrelsh?)

For daily usage, recommended is 1.3 Vcore or below.

But it really depends on how much risk you are willing to take. Some use 1.35 to 1.4 Vcore for daily usage
  • So the case for Ivy Bridge is the same? or is it <1.35 based as stated on youtube tutorial by asus.
Is voltage requirement vary by silicon diameter or via chip architecture?

Cause if its based on my collect the data:
    22 nm Ivybridge: < 1.35 vcore
    22 nm Haswell: < 1.280 vcore
22 nm Devils canyon: < 1.300 vcore?? Em I missing something else on my research?

Please advice, as I am plans to OC my proc as well.
As I have half backed knowledge. (I would not like to assume what I will be doing)
Thanks in advance for feedback and your patience ^_^

Nagkamali ako sa iyo. Pasensya Na, Congrats on this Article and Please do share your reviews sa TipidPC malaking tulong eto.

How about power consumption sir pati yung price to performance ratio sana meron din po.
