Laptop i5 vs i3/i5 Ivy Bridge

  Hi Guys,
  
  Could you help me decide which laptop to choose?
  
  HP 10000 Core i3 3110, this is budget friendly and future proof, but worried about the video card
  
  Samsung (NP350V4C-S05PH), great specs, but I don\'t need that much power
  
  Samsung R439-DT04PH, great specs, but old model and it\'s 1st gen processor

  Okay, first of all forget the 1st gen core i5. the 3rd gen i3 will demolish that i5 even if it is running at 2.8 GHz simply because in many review websites, 2nd gen core series are about 30 % faster clock per clock and 3rd gen core series is around 35 % faster (i.e. 3rd gen core i3 @ 2.4 GHz is 35 % faster than 1st gen i3 @ 2.4 Ghz). Now between the two laptops with 3rd gen core processors, the i5 gives you Turbo Boost up to 3.1 GHz on 1 core and 2.9 GHz on all cores while the i3 is stuck @ 2.4 GHz. This means more frames per second on games, especially GTA 4, Starcraft 2, Skyrim, or other CPU intensive games since the CPU can process more at a faster rate. With ATI 7670M, you can play most games at High or max settings except for the most demanding games like Metro 2033 or The Witcher 2, HD 4000 can play those games, but on medium settings at most. You decide if the extra Php 8000 is worth the extra 0.5 - 0.7 GHz plus the 7670M over the i3 model. Btw, upgrade the RAM to at least 4 GB, but I recommend to go 6 - 8 GB especially if you are gaming.

  talaga mas sulit ang core i3 compared to core i5 with turbo boost?
  
  medyo hesitant lang ako with HD4000 since shared un video card
  
  I won\'t be getting the i5 ivy bridge, I won\'t need that much video card anyway
  
  with regards to upgrade ram, mas maganda daw if pantay? like 2gb 2gb instead of 4 gb 2gb?

  Well since leaning ka na toward the i3 with HD 4000, kailangan mo talaga ng RAM upgrade kasi only 64 MB lang ang dedicated RAM nyan at up to 1.6 GB ang shared system memory. Mas maganda kung pantay at same speed and timing kasi the RAM will run in Dual Channel Mode, meaning higher transfer rate. So for faster speeds, 2x 2 GB dapat or for more capacity, but only operating on single channel, 4 GB + 2 GB. More info on Multi-channel mode can be found here: <click here for link>

  depende. if pareho ang vid card and old gen i5 vs new gen i3 ang labanan then pwede mas maganda ang new gen i3, unless maliit lang ang agwat nila sa generations. if pareho ang vid card, current model i3 vs current model i5, mas maganda i5, unless ang game mo ay programmed to be bottlenecked sa gpu so in that case minimal improvement from i3 to i5
  
  if hindi pareho ang vid card like say meron kang i one million na pangit ang video card versus i3 na good vid card sa i3 ako
  
  labo ng tanong mo e. give specific models of both the gpu and the cpu

  so sa pentium dual core 2 tao na tig isang baril so pag namatay ang isang tao or na full load sya isa na lng mag process or babaril sa box
  
  sa i3 nmn 2 dalawang tao pero tig 2 baril so 4 na baril ang gamit mo. so pag namatay ang isang tao atlest may isang tao na DALAWANG baril ang mag shoshoot sa box or PROCESS sa LOAD mo.
  
  so sa i5 nmn mas lamang ka ng isa.... kc sa i5 4 na tao na tigisang baril so pag namatay or na FULL LOAD ang isang tao meron pa na 3 tao na na babaril sa box..
