Cooler Master Fan Edition
Cooler Master Non-Fan Edition
About 3-4 months ago, bumili ako ng Cooler Master Notepal U2 for my Toshiba Satelitte L655 (i5 460m + Radeon 5650M). Napili ko tong U2 dahil base sa reviews sa net mas okay siya kesa sa ibang notebook coolers dahil pure aluminum (helps with dissipating heat) at rubber lang ang material na ginamit (walang masisirang parts i.e. plastic). Mas okay din siya dahil unlike other notebook coolers with fixed fan positions, modular ang fans na kasama ng U2/U3 so pwede mong itutok kung saan ang vents ng laptop mo. Dun mejo sumablay. Sadly the only available model here is the non-fan edition, it goes without saying na hindi rin available sa market yung fans na supposedly is with the package. Mejo matagal-tagal din akong naghanap nung modular fan na pwede sa U2 pero wala talaga.
Kaya naisip ko na gumamit na lang ng ibang fans. Nung una ang plano ko ay magmod ng fan to make it run via USB para pwedeng isaksak sa USB port ng laptop kaso with the USB port supplying only 5v mejo delikado at baka matusta yung port. Malamang-lamang hindi rin masyadong okay ang magiging performance ng 12v fans kapag 5v lang ang power source. Kaya ganito ginawa ko... Mcgyver style.
Materials used:
AC Adapter to 12v DC Molex Connector (usually comes with HDD enclosures)
Molex to 3pin Y-splitter
2x70mm 12v fans (got these from stock AMD Heatsinks)
Silicon fan mounts (from Zalman fans)

Hindi gaano kalakihan yung difference nung max temps pero ang kapansin-pansin ay yung average temps niya before reaching max. Dati without the fans pagnag-100% load instant 80+c agad ngayon it never reaches 80c and barely stays in the higher 70\'s, most of the time it stays in the higher 60\'s to lower 70\'s. Mejo maingay lang dahil high-RPM yung mga fans na ginamit ko pero nasa tolerable level naman at pag naglalaro ka na ng Black Ops at Crysis 2 hindi na rin pansin. So far so good.
Next project: Reapplication of thermal paste. Hehehe.

I have the U3 version, and it came with 3 modular fans. It\'s pretty awesome, coz I used it to carry the laptop too when I went home from the US too. the laptop slips in the space and the cradle handle is solid metal underneath. :)

Saan kayo nakabili ng U3 sir? Actually yan talaga yung hinahanap ko dati before I stumbled upon a U2 somewhere in Gilmore. Yung U2 kasi mejo nakalawit yung sides ng notebook (15.6\") ko pero onting-onti lang naman tsaka mejo short na ko sa desk space.
Anyways, where did you bought it and how much did it cost you? How\'s the performance of the bundled fans? (RPM/CFM/Noise/and how much battery life does it eat up?)
Wala na atang ibang CM Notepal Ux series users dito sa TPC ah.

I bought it at Microcenter, Rockville, MD last Jan. (When I was still there in the US. $30 bucks back then)
Really good for my SB laptop. 17.3 wide screen.

sir sa octagon marketmarket taguig nakabili ako but its notepal u-lite, wala na ako makita u2 or u3 version nito but still detachable pa rin fan nila.
