If you're going to buy now, then Core i7 is obviously the better choice

But if you plan on buying after September 2009, then Core i5 is a very nice upgrade

Best bang for the Buck b talaga ung I5 Compare sa I7?
    thanks
  • for me its not, we know that i5 socket is diff from i7 socket. if you upgrade to i5 you will be on dead end. unlike i7 you can upgrade to i9 which is similar to i7's socket.

    FYI

There is also Core i7 for LGA 1156... and are you working at Intel? How can you say that LGA 1156 is a dead socket?

Core i9?... Do you know how much will that cost?

All LGA 1366 processors will be for the high end and LGA 1156 processors for the mainstream
  • @ sir nrg500,

sir you are correct, i7 8xx series are 1156. My perception is, if sooner or later you are still going to upgrade to i7 9xx series that will cost you too much. for a diff of a thousand against the specs

i7 - which is 8 threads( supports triple channel)
i5 - which 4 thread( does supports triple channel??).

sir did you get my point? for a diff of a thousand I'd go for i7.

    i know it.

i know that is more expensive but how long? technology is fast nowadays.

anyway, for MCCF, go to the forums for i7 & i5 you will learn more rather than here because we are not on the proper forum. As what stated by TS and few members t

Core i7 920 will be phased out once Lynnfield is out...

Also, there are already benchmarks of Lynnfield... they have great overclocking potential and some Lynnfield can beat the Core i7 920

Besides, there are sub-$100 P55 motherboards....

    Are there sub-$100 X58 motherboards?..... .... :)

Not everyone here in TPC can afford future LGA 1366 processors

    LOL....

Core i9 is expected to start $ 1499... By the time Core i9 becomes affordable (if ever), it will be outdated already and there will be new processors that are better

Look at Core 2 Quad Extreme, they are still expensive eventhough there are more powerful and cheaper processors

I visit that thread everytime I'm online

  • correcting the corrector, whos being corrected?
  • if you can afford i7 and willing to spend a lot of money for i9 (like me lol) then go for i7
