CDRKing 64GB SSD = P5800

  • its cdrking and its cheap, what do you expect?
  • Is this still available? Anyone else tried this? Ok ba?
  • mahal pa rin eh,pagnagtagal yan na rin ang price ng branded
  • @raven, well yung mga branded siguro + 1,500Php yung price yes pero medyo malapit lapit na...
  • im using 2 of this ssd in raid for 6 months now... and has work above expected,

    loading times are no question.

    pero pag nag install ka ng mga games, it will consume 99% of your memory, you have to reboot your pc. D naman problem sa akin yan, since reboot and boot will take less than a min. Pero, expect the phantom ssd to slow down when installing many small files.

    Di ako sure kung memory leak or ano problem, the ssd had been aligned with 128 setting... still nag s-stutter pag nag ccopy ng games, so, pag nag iinstall ng games, dont do anything, even browsing the net (firefox,google). Usually pag maramihang files, im getting 99% memory and it wont go away without rebooting.

    Tested with win7-64b, 6gb + ramdrive, i7@4gb...

    updated --

    well, I have updated both of my ssd's firmware to a newer version.

    and installed w7... took about 10min from install menu to finish installing...

    Flight simulator 9 with scenery and etc... is quite fast, we are talking about small chunks of file about 1k-1gb... depends on scenery... 3gb ng memory is dedicated to fileswap, temp etc.... kaya mataas na yan.

    before flashing, pag nag copy ng ganito, mag fufull yung mem to 99%, galing ng bagong firmware..

    load time from bios to desktop about 30sec, about the same parin.
    stutter 99% removed.

  • sa mga naka king ssd, update nyo firmware, matatangal ang stutter.-
  • the Phantom SSD is most likely the OCZ Core SSD rebranded to CD-R King. Read my previous post on this thread a page back, they're indeed similar. The reviews of the OCZ Core confirm the stuttering issue with that SSD.

    The drive stutters because it has no buffer memory, and it uses an old Jmicron controler with a small 16kb cache. The other drives that use the Indilinx controller have 256kb of cache.
  • gbservice, where did you get the firmware update?

    It works for the CD-R king SSD (the Phantom SSD) yes? How's the firmware update done?
  • @rigurat,

    yes, ive updated it using the firmware update tool. basta jmicron ito po yung log:

    FW version=081208
    Code number=2
    Part1=1
    Part2=2
    Model number=SSD-01-064 Phantom
    Firmware version=081016
    VID=152d
    PID=0602
    Vendor & Product name=SSD-01-064 Phantom
    Product string=SSD-01-064 Phantom
    Manufacture string=SSD-01-064
    Serial number=EVMU0850064SS00092

    it will be updated to V. 090508S

    - update is done via USB port. You need an existing os, kasi pag binago mo firmware, mabubura lahat file mo.

    XP > plug ssd via usb > run updater, automatic na kasi lahat, click ok ok lang.

    - ive been using it this whole day, installing files, and wala akong nahahalatang stutter. setup is raid0 @ 1024align.

  • What website did the firmware update come from? Is it that USB rescue utility on the Verico website?
  • I wonder what branch may stock nito, i never saw any on display in the branches I've visited. Alabang Town Center, Festival Mall, and SM Sucat.
  • @rigurat, i got it from a chinese site, its unofficial, but will work with jm602 chipset. meron din mga ocz, pwede din.

  • Pwede kaya ito drop in replacement hdd sa MacBook? Standard 2.5 ba ang casing?
  • @Gino, I'm thinking puede because it is a standard 2.5" unfortunately parang wala nang stock eh.
  • good for ArmA 2!
  • Bagay ito sa mga server computers (Not talking to enterprise), para mabilis ang response.
  • My 250GB seagate bagal pla nito compared dyan. Im eyeing pa naman sa 640GB ng WD
