  • keep your old video cards guys cause DX 12 is going to be awesome:

now i hope amd and nvidia play nice with each other. hope nvidia does not lock amd with there drivers.
  • ^ For Sure pangit ang performance nyan since combining two difference architecture card
  • but imagine taking a 770 tapos combine my 970. At least meron minimum improvement. right? savers cash don't need to get the latest 970 to run dual.

maybe cause of nvidia track record of locking stuff.
  • Yes but yung Cross Platform Multi GPU talaga ang more or less walang improvement
  • Mga ilan years kayo bago magpalit ng video card? Gusto ko lang malaman para at least malaman ko kung mga magkano ang dapat ipunin in 1 year, 2 years or 5 years? And ano reason bakit kayo maguupgrade per year, per 2 years, per 5 years?

    Salamat.

Combining 2 GPU's of different architecture is not a new concept

Anyone here remembers Lucid Hydra ? The technology was released in Q4 of 2009

  • I think this is the reason why Lucid Hydra failed

Now bear in mind, it also took both ATI and NVIDIA a year or two to stabilize their drivers for SLI and Crossfire. Multi-GPU support is complex, very complex and that is exactly what will be haunting Lucid.

Some practical issues and things that raise questions:

    - What if you have a Radeon card and a GeForce card and want to select an NVIDIA AA mode... well you can't.
    - What if you want to enjoy PhysX in X-mode? - well you can't, as the minute the NVIDIA driver sees an ATI card, it will disable it.
    - Got a GeForce and Radeon card in X-mode? You can't access the primary graphics card control panel e.g. in our case we could not load up the NVIDIA control panel.
    - What about DirectX 11 games? Well currently there's no support.
    - Is there CPU overhead due to Hydra? -- Yes.
    - You want to run the latest Forceware driver yet use Hydra? You can't as the Hydra driver needs to support it.

So you see, there's more to the entire multi-GPU setup than just merely getting support for it to render with two GPUs.

All that aside Lucid has an advantage though, if (and only if) they get their drivers right and released very often, then multi-GPU combinations that are vendor independent will become a reality and that certainly is very unique. But next month when this motherboard becomes available, please do not expect a finalized and shiny shaped multi-GPU monster. In its current state it's a nice additional gimmick to play around with for a very limited amount of game titles, and nothing more than that. We certainly applaud what it is, but also feel a big step needs to be taken in order for Hydra 200 to be commercially viable. Two things can happen, either a year from now the product is a decent enough success for an excruciatingly tiny market... or a year from now everybody will have forgotten all about Lucid and its Hydra 200 chip completely.

  • may VRAM issue na nga nag mahal pa..arghhh!!!
kapal noh? ganyan talaga kasi big player sya eh
I'm so disappointed with AMD right now.

Same goes with Nvidia and AMD rivalry
  • @tuklap

ayaw ko na sa AMD unless ibalik nila yung bangis nila tulad nung nilabas nila yung cypress. until then, nvidia ako stick kahit mahal dahil mas kampante at masaya ako sa gpus nila.

    @vladz

ya its good card. 280x is basically an 7970 GHZ edition with some improvements.

Parang sa AMD 200x thread, puro fanboys dun eh kits mo ngayon wala ng pinag uusapan. (Except yung forever 970 issue) peace!

  • @mike

what about yun impact nya nun una sya nirelease? read a lot of good things about it kaya naisip ko eto yata yun huling malupit na nilabas ng amd. recent lang din ako nagka interes sa pc e so di ko pa alam yun cypress hehe, curious lang how it compares. nun nagstart ako magresearch ng parts sa build ko madalas ko mabasa yun titan, kilala terms of power and pricing (mas notoryus ata sa pricing haha). yun 780ti (gimped titan black?) naman parasng malupit pa din ngayon kahit may 980 na.
